Formation of Ti-Al intermetallic compounds during ion-plasma processing of VT6 alloy with aluminum coating
Employees of the Laboratory of Physics of Hierarchical Structures in Metals and Alloys, together with colleagues from the Ufa University of Science and Technology, studied the patterns of formation of the microstructure and phase composition of the coating and modified intermetallic layers obtained in the VT6 alloy as a result of applying an aluminum coating and subsequent low-temperature ion-plasma treatment . Using the method of high-resolution transmission microscopy, the features of a layered microstructure, gradient in composition and morphology, with intermetallic compounds of the Ti-Al system of different stoichiometric composition are identified and described.
