Great prospects for the scientific direction. Ten years of laboratory quality control of materials and structures

In June 2013, the Scientific Council of the Institute of Strength and Physics Materials Science supported the decision of the Institute’s management to create laboratories for quality control of materials and structures. In normal According to the schedule of the Institute of Strength Physics and Materials Science SB RAS, a laboratory appeared as part of 1 staff head and 1st rate leading researcher. Main science was chosen as the direction of scientific research of the new laboratory about friction - tribology.

Enthusiasm and high professional level of the new employees laboratories made it possible to achieve impressive scientific results in a short time results. Attracting extra-budgetary funding made it possible to within two years, increase the staff to ten people. In an interview in 2014, the first head of the laboratory, Evgeniy Kolubaev commented on the scientific successes of the new team: “... our The peculiarity is that in tribology problems are often solved in both mechanics, engineering science. And we are considering emerging problems with from the point of view of the formation of structures, physical processes that occur during friction... Currently, the laboratory has achieved impressive success. Cooperation with major industrial partners has allowed develop industrial technology using the welding method friction with stirring for the production of large-sized products, complex of active-passive quality control of welded joints, etc. President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Sergeev got acquainted with the developments of the laboratory, cosmonauts S. Krikalev, A. Kaleri and V. Dzhanibekov, minister V. Falkov, Head of FANO of Russia M. Kotyukov, other representatives government and business.

The laboratory became the Alma Mater for young scientists, on its basis subsequently were created within the framework of the national project “Science and Universities” 2 youth laboratories of the Institute of Strength Physics and Materials Science SB RAS.

Today the laboratory is headed by Valery Rubtsov, under the leadership which continues active cooperation with industrial partners in the creation of new Russian technologies. In ten years Laboratory employees have patented more than 20 results intellectual activity, research results were published in more than 200 scientific papers - most of them in journals of the first and second quartile.
